Air pop-up roof prototype

It's finally here. In the past few weeks, we've received countless messages from you. Whether at CMT, on Instagram, or in our little teaser clips – you've shown keen eyes and immediately noticed: something completely new is happening on top of the bus. Markus and Benny have been sweating, tinkering, and perhaps even pulling an all-nighter or two in Sri Lanka (our development hub). The goal? To completely rethink a pop-top roof. Away from heavy metal, towards lightness and freedom.

Why all this? The problem with weight...

Anyone driving a 6.40m Ducato knows the drama: pop-top roof on, conversion finished – and boom, you're scraping the 3.5-ton limit without even a toothbrush packed. That sucks, doesn't it?

That's why we asked ourselves: Do we really need all those heavy gas struts and metal fittings? The answer is: No! We're relying on air. Together with SCA, we've developed a prototype that uses clever air bladders (tubes) instead of heavy mechanics.

The first big detailed video is here! 🎥

Because you can't describe this sense of space and technology in three sentences, Markus has now made a detailed video for you. He takes you up to the roof, shows you the construction, and explains why you can finally sleep in both directions (keyword: crooked Ducato stance!).

Here's what awaits you in the video:

  • Weight saving: Why the roof is a game-changer for the 3.5t class.

  • Panoramic view: How to turn the roof into a terrace and gaze directly at the stars.

  • The technology: How a small tube with minimal pressure (less than a bicycle tire!) holds the entire roof.

  • Flexibility: The fabric bellows can be quickly removed for drying or changing (summer/winter).

"This freedom, this great sense of space – you have to experience it live. It's like suddenly having a roof terrace with you." – Markus

Still a prototype, but with big plans

Honesty is important to us: This is currently still a prototype. It's a "mammoth project" that we're refining together with SCA to bring it to market. We're currently testing everything – from wind susceptibility to the 5-stage safety system of the air chambers (spoiler: it's damn safe!).

Watch the video, share our excitement, and most importantly: Tell us what you think! Does the camper world need such innovations? What are your questions? Write them in the comments or use our new WhatsApp format.

We are incredibly grateful for your support on this journey. Without your enthusiasm, it wouldn't be half as much fun.

Until next time and always safe travels,
